I have a Scotts self propelled mulching mower that my brother recently gave me after he purchased a new riding mower. This mower saw several years of service in the wet Seattle climate so it has some rust damage that I have shored up using parts/brackets I had lying around along with some JB Weld. Also, a few cuts after my brother gave it to me, the starting rope recoil mechanism stopped working, unless I gave it about a one turn manual recoil, then it would recoil/retract on its own so it appears it needs a new spring or recoil unit. Because I can't get more than one pull before manually recoiling the starting cord it means I can't start it anymore either. It worked great for the few mows I got out of it and worked great for my brother for years. Someone who works with small engines/mowers would probably have this workhorse going in no time, but for me it's the end of the mowing season and time for a new mower. Yours for $50, if the rust on the deck is too much it would still be a good engine and blade for another mower.
