1982 Chevrolet Corvette Collectors EditionThe 1982 Collector Edition was the first Corvette with a hatchbackrear window, foreshadowing the C4 Corvette. A special color schemewas used inside and out and Collector Edition badges were featured.The special, exclusive aluminum wheels were designed to look likethe optional bolt-on wheels of the 1967 model. The CollectorEdition had an 0" in the sixth digit of the VIN rather than the"8" found on standard Corvettes. This was the first Corvette tosell for more than $20,000, with a base price of $22,537.59. TheCollector Edition had limited availability and 6,759 were producedout of a 1982 total Corvette production of 25,407.Offered for consignment, this Collector Edition automobile presentsin good condition. Some paint flaws and minimal scratching showoverall, however still running strong this example of only 6,759produced. An overall very clean and nicely presenting car with aninteresting "space age" interior. This car has the removable roofpanels which are bronze tinted glass and a 3 owner history thatcombines with the 27,615 verified actual miles, Crossfire Injection350ci V8, a clean CarFax, and the original build sheet all to formone seriously collectible Collectors Edition.ExteriorSilver beige paint was the color of every 1982 Collector EditionCorvette produced, and this is no exception. Dark brown curvaceouspinstriping wraps around the passenger compartment and highlightsthe fenders. A gray to black fade is seen on the beltline doorpanel and makes its way to black ending in the front quarterpanel/air vent. The same gray to black fade appears on the hood,which presents with some cracking of the decal. The all fiberglassbody is in good condition, bathed in the original application ofpaint but sporting some battle scars in the form of scuffs andscrapes, particularly on the pointed neoprene nose. Bronze tintedglass "T" tops, which are removable, are scratch free and clear. Ahatchback style operable window covers the rear deck. Uniquewheels, turbine style, patterned after the 1967 models bolt onalloys, are also unique to this commemorative edition. Crossfireinjection badging is seen as well on the exterior as are the iconicquad of round tail/signal lights.InteriorMetallic Silver/Brown "spacesuit style material" seating hashorizontal multi shade silver brown hue panels on the bucketseating. The seats are showing a of wrinkling to the material, butno tears or fading is noted. This pattern is mimicked on the doorpanels, with the lower door panels wrapped in smoked gray carpet.This same carpet in good condition is seen throughout the cabin andeven in the stowage hatch area remains very clean. Storage bags areseen in the rear to keep the T-tops scratch and mar free whenremoved. We note some soiling on the plastic backs of the frontseat, particularly on the drivers top. An early 1980s stylerectangular dash has analog instrumentation. Another cluster ofanalog gauges is seen in the center console, which includes thefloor shifter and power window toggles between the bucket seats. Apadded 3-spoke stock steering wheel fronts the dash and sports thecrossed flags Corvette logo.DrivetrainA 350ci V8 engine is fueled by the new Cross-Fire Injection whichincludes 2 throttle bodies combined with Chevrolets computercontrol system. A 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with higherratio first and second gear, as well as a fourth gear overdrive,increased the acceleration, and improved fuel economy. The entireengine compartment presents in good condition. Rounding out thedrivetrain is the 2.87 geared Positraction rear axle.UndercarriageUnderside of the car reveals that surface rust is present, but itis structurally sound. Power disc brakes are on all four wheels andproviding the signature Corvette ride is an independent coil springfront suspension that works with a fully independent frame anchoreddifferential and transverse leaf spring arrangement. A singleexhaust system with dual stock replacement mufflers handles thespent fossil removal with ease.
