Description:

Built in 1977 with Original 1957 MGA steel body, original aluminum hood & trunk. TIG welded 1.5 x 2.5 mild steel frame. Fenders & doors welded to body to make one-piece “flip-top” body (like funny car but much heavier). Aluminum tonneau cover over driver’s compartment. Car set up for SB Chevy, and SB or BB Olds engines and will accept PG or Turbo 350 transmissions.
Engine is 355” sb Chevy built in 1985, stock forged 3.48 stroke crank, Brodix -10 Aluminum heads (60 cc, 2.055 int, 1.600 exh valves) by Gianino, Venolia 6” aluminum rods, Venolia forged pistons, tool steel lite pins, Cam Dynamics Roller cam & kit, 1.6 Crane rockers & stud girdle, K-Motion triple springs, titanium retainers, cam gear drive, custom headers, Edelbrock Torker intake, single 780 cfm Holley, tall Moroso valve covers. Deep steel pan w/kick out. ATI damper. MSD 7AL-2 ignition & 8.8 mm Accel Wires.
Transmission is rare Pontiac Powerglide with universal bellhousing for Chevy & B-O-P engines. 8.5 or 9” converter by Coan. ACD valve body with brake, RPM-controlled shifting, deep cast pan, oil cooler and TCI aluminum shield. Spare partial Coan Chevy PG included.
Front end/suspension is straight axle & coil over shocks. Cragar SuperTrick spindle-mounts with M&H 3.5x22x15 tires and Wilwood disc brakes. Pinto rack & pinion steering.
Rear end/suspension is narrowed ‘59 Olds with 5:38 gears, aftermarket axles, locked rear, Strange Engineering coil-over shocks, ladder bars, wishbone swaybar and chrome wheelie bars. Cragar SuperTrick wheels with Goodyear 30x13x15 slicks, drum brakes. Spare center section included along with spare set of Zoom 5:57 gears.
Electronics: ACD Delay box. Front brakes hand controlled, rear brakes foot operated. Staging RPM controlled by MSD 2-Step, top end speed/ RPM controlled by “variable chip” (rheostat). It worked.
Note: Car ran legal NHRA Super Gas class since late 80’s. Had no trouble red-lighting or running 9.90 ETs including 3 perfect 9.900 runs. Car hooked well and went straight. Pictures are from the early 90’s, but car has been sitting for nearly 20 years, so expect some surface rust on frame and suspension components. The engine has not been fired since that time, so some checking and maintenance will need to be performed before car can be operational. NHRA rules have changed since ’91, so although car was legal when retired, its chassis/cage has not been submitted for NHRA certification and is assumed NOT to pass without modification, so bid accordingly. As can be seen in the photo, there is slight body damage to lower left front.
