Under the forward-hinged front end (hood, fenders, headlights and front bumper), is the original 5.3L SOHC V-12 engine with four Zenith-Stromberg 175CD2SE carburetors and mated to the original optional Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. The engine was originally developed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power steering and power disc brakes.Inside, the dark blue interior is in overall great condition. The Connolly bucket seats are in very good condition, as is the matching Wilton wool carpeting. The headliner is in similar shape while the three-spoke steering wheel looks ready to cruise. The instrument panel, with its array of rocker switches and gauges, is in very good order, as are the inner door panels. The horn is inoperable. Completing the interior are the gearshift lever, the long, silver parking brake lever and a aftermarket AM/FM stereo with CD player.The E-Type Series 3 was introduced in 1971. The short wheelbase FHC body style was discontinued, with the Series 3 available only as a convertible and 2+2 coupé. The newly used longer wheelbase now offered significantly more room in all directions. The Series 3 is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tires, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V-12.
