Early 1900's Antique Chas H Fletcher s Castoria Aqua 6" Cork Topped Bottle In raised lettering on 1 side of bottle is signature of Char. H. Fletcher in script and on the other side is the word CASTORIA As a boy of 13, Fletcher went to work for a proprietary medicine company. In 1872 he managed to save enough to buy from a physician, Dr. Samuel Pitcher, the formula of a laxative called Castoria. With this formula, he made a fortune. Castoria was the subject of one of the largest ad campaigns in history. At the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge in 1883, there were Castoria ads added to walls of buildings all over New York City. They were quite visible from the bridge at that time.
